The Courtenay KIA Ladies Open Bonspiel finished on Sunday November 30, with the CVCC's Haider Team being the ONLY team to go undefeated and take home the the Hairpins Boutique Salon A Event Grand Championship! Congrats to Skip Michele Haider, with LeeAnne Alberti, Kerry Rondeau, and Lesley Hruby. Team Haider took down the spirited Gold River/CVCC Candice Baker Team that was back and forth until Michele made a tricky angle raise for three to cement the win. Congrats to Candice and co!

Taking home the Bosley's By Pet Value Courtenay B Event prize was the Shirley Wong team from Parksville Curling Club. Congrats to skip Shirley Wong, with Kim Moldenhauser, Ann Fyfe, and Lori Moffitt, as well as the CVCC's Kim Jonsson who were runners up.

In another thrilling final, the CVCC's Sue Fulkerth and team (Marna Woolard, Linda Hawk, and Jan Adams) edged out Amber Dufour team to win the Brian McLean GMC, Buick, and Chevrolet Event!

The Jenn Bekks Mortgage D Event was won by bonspiel organizers Maxine Montgomery and Sue powers, along with their Madison Wisconsin imports Angie Montgomery and Anne Gravel.

Speaking of Sue and Maxine, they and their amazing crew deserve special thanks for making this such a great weekend off and on the ice! Thanks to all 24 teams and all 96 ladies for the over the top Tacos spilling themselves on and off the ice all weekend! The Enchiladies and the Piñadas won best costumes at the banquet, but really there were so many amazing costumes that a dozen other teams could have won. Thanks to the dozens of vendors at the Winter Market! Thanks to all the usual suspects (great food, great drinks, great ice, well intentioned and mostly great staff. Thanks to DJ Connor for keeping those tacos on the dance floor! A truly fantastic weekend was had by one and all!
