Blair Cusack
Blair's Curling Philosophy
Curling is a complex team sport with lifelong opportunities for self improvement across a broad spectrum of skills: shot-making, self control, communication, sweeping, strategic planning and relationship management. Excellence is maximized by patience, listening, empathy, honesty, physical fitness, practice and dedication to supporting your teammates. Coaching starts with learning the aptitudes, intentions and emotional disposition of the target audience through direct observation and candid discussion. If possible, a set of milestones and performance metrics should be used to guide the coaching process. Sincere goodwill in curling creates a unique balance of social engagement and competitive enjoyment. We are all students, together, of the ‘roaring game’; without fail, we shake the hands of our opposition before and after each contest; off the ice we seek to create a Club camaraderie and shared memories that will last a lifetime. Curling...it is truly something Special.

Karly's Curling Philosophy
I like to approach coaching with making sure the basics are locked down. I find most errors come from doing what feels "natural" but not what might make you a better curler. There are certain aspects that we can change or alter to make things more comfortable: changing from a broom to a crutch, tucked slides, etc. But balance, aiming and release are all places people tend to over/under think and I believe that getting those down and feeling confident are what will help the rest of your game. At the end of the day, throwing more rocks is always what's needed - but I'm here to make sure you're focusing on the right things when you go out and throw. I also have a strong opinion that curling is the most sportsmanlike game and etiquette is at that core! If you need tips on sweeping I always have some to make you more efficient as it's all about how you distribute your weight. No matter the size you can pack a punch if the technique is down!

Kimmie's Curling Philosophy
Curling is a sport played by all ages and all skill levels. Not only is it social, you learn communication, strategic plays, ethical values, patience, rules, sportsmanship, honesty and achieve accomplishments with yourself, teammates and competitors. Learning first the importance of and mastering the delivery, releases, weight control and most importantly, BALANCE... My coaching consists of positive feedback, learning an individual's needs, constructive suggestions, demonstrating patience and making it fun. Conquering the sport of curling from the beginnings of delivering the stone to shot making, strategy, brushing, timing stones, reading ice, the importance of practise, drills and becoming a positive team player...
Richard Tanguay
Richard's Curling Philosophy
Curling is a life long sport for all skill levels. One can play just to be involved socially or one can develop skills to play at competitive levels. Whichever type of play suits the individual it requires developing fundamental skills. Along with the technical aspect comes the strategic aspect of the game, which at the higher level of curling is imperative. Individuals must develop reliable and consistent deliveries. Teams are made of 4 individuals that must learn the responsibilities of all 4 positions. This is the difference between a fair and great curling team. Teams that are honest, open in evaluations and not centered on individual achievement are the ones that will prosper.
Sharon Walker
Sharon's Curling Philosophy
My approach to coaching new curlers is to emphasize safety, to have fun and keep the lessons as a positive learning experience. My core beliefs about the great game of curling is consistent good sportsmanship where fair play is upmost over winning unfairly. I would emphasize that the lessons focus on simple concepts and repetition to build confidence and basic skills of beginners. For curlers who want feedback on certain aspects like delivery or sweeping, I would review core elements and offer drills that could be practiced to improve those elements through repetitions and positive feedback.
