This membership is for players who want to spare on a casual basis that are not in a full season league. If you are registered on a team for a full season league you may spare at no cost and do not need to register as a Casual Spare. 

SPARES MUST BE FULLY PAID MEMBERS OF THE CVCC (unless otherwise approved and waivered by CVCC Management PRIOR to the game). 

Casual spares pay no registration fee, but pay a $15 per game drop in fee. The fee is paid via honour system: please pay manager, or bartender before your game begins, whenever you drop in to spare. You can also e-transfer $15 to info@comoxvalleycurling.com detailing who you spared for (league, team, and date).

If you are on the ice no more than 3 times this season (practice and games combined) check Curl BC Exempt at Registration for $29 discount.

Spares must throw lead or 2nd stones. Spares may hold the broom or call the game, but must throw front end. Games may still take place with spares throwing third or skip, but the game will be recorded as a loss as a result for that team in the standings. Should a spare want to legally throw third or fourth stones they must register as an official Alternate/5th Player at a $50 cost per full season league.

The names of spares are not eligible to be engraved on league champion trophies or recognized in the in-ice league winner decals.

Please update your Sparing profile under "My Curling" tab to indicate the leagues for which you are available. This will help teams find you!

If you are not registered in any other leagues, you will not be considered a "Voting" club member.

When a league uses a spare, either the spare or the skip should declare the use of the spare to their opposition, and position the spare is playing are playing, in advance of the game beginning.

The 50+ Social Club League is excluded from club collected spare fees: The 50+ Social Club collect their own spare fees and donate to youth curling and other CVCC initiatives when they have an excess.
