Welcome to the Comox Valley Curling Club!
REMEMBRANCE DAY HOURS AT THE CLUB
Due to there being a shortage of dates on the calendar and a need to get all games played, all leagues are on schedule for this coming Monday November 11. This includes the 50+ Social League in the AM, and the Monday Open League in the evening. The Extra End Lounge will be open from 4 PM, the office and Pro Shop will be open from 1:30 PM to 4 PM only. If your team cannot play on Monday please cancel directly with your opponent. The kitchen will only be open during the 50+ Social League, 8 AM to 2:30 PM. Those of us curling and not curling, please consider taking some time to reflect on all those that gave of themselves in hard to fathom situations not many generations past. Thank you.

LADIES OPEN BONSPIEL APPROACHING FAST!
BOYCE REIGNS AT ROYAL LePAGE MEN's OPEN BONSPIEL!
The Royal LePage Men's Open Bonspiel just wrapped up a couple of dozen hours ago. After three days of high level curling, here are our champions! Winners of the Assante Wealth Management A Event was the always crafty Lyle Boyce team from Campbell River, who defeated their clubmates Rene Quintin. Taking home the Colonial Countertops B Event was Nanaimo's Brendan Neff, who outlasted the always near the top Ron Schmidt squad. Winners of the C Event was our very own Brian Baltis team, who edged out Jr up and comers Chris Parkinson (CV/Parksville) in a nail biter. As always, great comradery was had, along with a profitable calcutta event, draw to the button and skills competition, great ice, food, drinks, prizes...Curlers opened their wallets and somewhere in the $700 range was raised for the Royal LePage Christmas Hamper. An interesting new pool format and equal draw schedule kept attention glued to the ice...thanks as always goes to the usual suspects (ice staff, bar, club, kitchen staff), to bonspiel chair Craig Bernes and his committee...but mostly to the teams that participated and dazzled us with great shots and greater fun all weekend. Looking forwarded to next year already!
SUNDAY DOUBLES BEGINS THIS WEEKEND!
We have room for one more couple to make an even number of pairs so no byes will be in play...please get in touch ASAP!

END OF THE ROLL SQUEAL SPIEL WRAP UP!
Wow, what an opening event to usher in the curling season! The inaugural End Of The Roll Squeal Spiel just wrapped up, I dare say it was an event the 28 teams and their friends and family will not soon forget. Winners of the Bonspiel Boss Hogs (experienced) Division was the Kevin May team from Campbell River! The Porkies (less experienced) trophy went to team Cumberland Brewing! Taking home the B Event Boss Hogs prize was the powerhouse Lyle Boyce/Lonnie Schopp squad, continuing to represent Campbell River well! The C Event went to the CVs Cliff Carr-Hilton, and the D Event was mopped up by our skyrocketing Jr ladies team led by Gracelyn Richards!
The spiel featured a live band Saturday night (Back Paddlers), a pig roast dinner Saturday night and great food throughout the weekend, a custom built indoor bocce court and other amazing games, dancing, comradery, a few desserts thrown around, pig themed merriment everywhere you looked!...it's all a glorious haze. Thanks to the sponsors whose support paid the way: End of The Roll Discount Flooring & Carpets our title sponsor, with The Park Golf, Crown Isle, Hyland Precast, Enviro Tech Metal Roofing, Forbidden Brewing, Cumberland Brewing, Beach Fire Brewing, Gladstone Brewing...Thanks to the usual suspects at the CVCC (ice crew, bar mixologists, management runners, Larry in da kitchen)...but the largest round of applause goes to the bonspiel organizing committee who went above and beyond to make this event one to remember, in the face of a number of challenges a first time bonspiel had to deal with. So thanks, and cheers everyone!
