INTRODUCING THE MEDICINE SHOPPE SUNDAY FUN LEAGUE!
Well this is exciting! We are thrilled to announce the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy in Comox as our official league sponsor and partner for our new Sunday Fun League! As our Gladstone Friday Fun League is in high demand, this new beginner friendly league is a perfect place for anyone who can't get in to that night. Families, new & experienced curlers, businesses, all skill levels and genders are welcome! The focus is on fun and learning the great roaring game! The League runs in two ten week rounds. The first round begins September 30th, the second round January 6th. Preference for spots is given to 4 player teams, but we will put together singles, couples, or threesomes together to complete a team! Register now!

RETURNING MEMBERS: Login to your membership dashboard, under the Membership+ menu select "Renew Your Membership", and away you go.
2) DROP BY OR CALL THE CLUB
We'll be in the office through September until the ice is ready. We're happy to assist you in person, on the phone, or via email, with your registration.
3) REGISTRATION NIGHTS!
Want to see some friendly faces and register in person? From 6 PM to 9 PM on Thursday September 6, Monday September 10, and Wednesday September 12 we will be hosting registration socials upstairs in the Extra End Lounge. There also is a Senior Social League specific registration from 10 AM to 2 PM Friday September 14.
Please be aware all members must register before league play begins. Please do not show up to your first game without having registered. Thank you! Can't you almost smell the ice?!

In person and online registration for our upcoming season begins on September 1, 2018. We have a two night Learn To Curl Clinic on September 25 & 26, and our Icebreaker Open House 60th Anniversery Party is on Saturday September 29th. Regular league play begins on Thursday September 27. We have amazing opportunities to curl in a number of leagues and are thrilled to get curlers of all experience levels, abilities, and ages on the ice. Check back here daily for all the news! Can you say PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONS?! We thought you could! Congrats to Team Dufour for going undefeated and winning the PCMCA and BCIMCA Ladies Masters in Kamloops! Well done, in fact, super well done to Amber Dufour, Mary Holden, Mickey Colburn, & Elaine Starchuk!
NORTH ISLAND CLUB CHALLENGE CHAMPS CROWNED!
Winners of the North Island Club Challenge, the Kim Jonsson team from Campbell River! Congrats to Kim, Lonnie Schopp, Cynthia Lu, and Kelly Bleau, who edged the CVCC's Val Schulz (with Melanie Rait, LeeAnne Alberti, & Mare Michell) in an extra end. Thanks to the other participating Club Champs from Fort Rupert and Powell River!
On the Men's side, Parksville took home the big prize, holding off the scrappy Craig Bernes team (with Shawn Holland, Trevor Buckingham, & Ron Freeman) from the CVCC. Congrats to Parksville's Tom Freeman, David Sakai, Warren Gionet, & Darryl Sneddon, and best of luck at the Pacific International Cup!
LADIES & MEN's CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS THURSDAY March 22
The Finals are set! Battling it out at 7:00 PM Thursday to see who will be crowned champions of our Tueday and Thursday Ladies and Men's Leagues:
The Ladies Final will feature Nancy Riva vs Val Shultz, and on the Men's side it is aggregate winners Ron Schmidt facing off against Mike Meeres for all the marbles! Come on down to the club and cheer on these fine curlers!

Specifically Duffy Simpson, Steve Thurber, Sharon Meeres, and Kim Jonsson, with support from league and committee representatives Allan Bridges, Lana Riva, Mickey Colburn, Mike Morrissey, Shelley Brown, & Ron Pearce.

TEAM RICHARDS WINS GOLD AT BC WINTER GAMES!
Congrats to Keelie Duncan, Bryn Woloshyn, Chanelle Meeres, Gracelyn Richards and coach Sarah Hassall, who went undefeated at the BC Winter Games and won the gold medal today!!!
BERNES & SCHULTZ WIN CVCC CLUB CHALLENGE!
The CVCC Club Challenge wrapped up today, here are our Club Champions moving on to the North Island Club Challenge. Val Schultz (with Melanie Rait, Mare Michell, and Keelie Duncan) won a tight battle over Deb Morrissey (with Lesley Hruby, Lori Ross, & Jenn Zbinden). On the Men's side, the minnows that were great white sharks today, showing that on any given day anything can happen. Craig Bernes, Shawn Holland, Trevor Buckingham, and Ron Freeman knocked off the heavily favoured Ron Schmidt team (with Norm Cote, Mike Meeres, & Darren Richards) in a best two games out of three. Congratulations and thanks to all for entering the Club Challenge and the true spirit of club curling on display. We had some real excitement here today!

VICTORIA DUOS SWEEP UP AT VANCOUVER ISLAND MIXED DOUBLES PLAYDOWNS!
The Vancouver Island Mixed Doubles Playdowns finished up yesterday, and here are the qualifiers to go to the Provincials in Cranbrook next month! Going undefeated in the A bracket was Victoria's Alex Horvath along with Taylor Reese-Hansen (fresh off her trip skipping the Junior ladies at the Nationals in Quebec!). Father and daughter team of Bob and Mariah Coulombe came out of the B Event. Completing the Victoria Curling Club trifecta was the brother sister team of Sydney Brilz (also on the Reese-Hansen Provincial Junior champion team)
& Tim Henderson. Sydney and Tim appeared down and out in both of their crazy games on Sunday but made amazing comebacks in both. In the C final they were down three in the 8th end but scored four against local execs Duffy Simpson & Sharon Walker. Duffy and Sharon you were an inch of curl from going to the Provincials. Special mention to the CVCC's Chris and Katlyn Tolton who also came close! Well done everyone!
COTE WINS HANGOVER BONSPIEL FOR 3rd YEAR IN A ROW!
The Hangover Bonspiel wrapped up a few days ago, and we've finally recovered enough to share the results! Paralyzed? Uh huh. Winners of the Bonspiel, for the third year in a row, the CV and CR super team of Norm Cote, Kevin May, Blaire Bezaire, & Ed Bellrose, who took down the Forbes-King rink in the A Final. Winning the B Event was Peter Olsen from the CVCC. Top Spot in the C Event went to Christ Tolton with his Victoria/CVCC hybrid family team. The winners of the D endurance Box was Mike Meeres from the CVCC. Next year will be the 50th Anniversary of this historic gathering of manly curling comradery. Stay tuned as we aim for 50 teams!
RONNIE LISTER RE/MAX MIXED OPEN BONSPIEL RESULTS
What a weekend! The Ronnie Lister Re/Max Mixed Open Bonspiel wrapped up on Sunday, the good times rolled and kept rolling. The grand champions, the only undefeated team, the schoolers of the young...winning the Boston Pizza A Event was the Randy Veitch team (Randy with Mickey Colburn, Dennis Colburn, and Sharon Walker), who edged RIck Aker in the final. The Finneron Hyundai B Event went to the Glen Cheetham team (Glen and Michelle Cheetham, Brandon and Donelle Sawyer). Familiar face Ray Michell (with Mare Michelle, Melanie Rait, and Jade Jensen) took home the Thrifty Foods C Event championships, and the GOAT Radio D Champions was Kevin May from Campbell River. A robust and hearty thanks goes to Allan Bridges and the bonspiel committee & volunteers, to Gord, Michelle, and Bob for the great ice, drawmaster Sylvia Mossey, Larry and his ladies for the full bellies, Johnny, Jessica, & Melinda who kept the glasses full, & Keith & Kelly for steering. And the biggest thanks goes to the 29 teams who participated and treated the CVCC like home. Good times!
TEAM DUFOUR WINS PCMCA PLAYDOWNS, HEADED TO MASTERS PROVINCIALS!
It was a great weekend for Team Dufour! The Ladies Masters Team of Amber Dufour, Mary Holden, Mickey Colburn and Elaine Starchuk won the Zone 4 Pacific Coast Masters Playdowns, held at the Comox Valley Curling Club On Jan. 12/13, 2018. Team Dufour will be travelling to Kamloops to participate in the Pacific Coast Masters Championships to be held March 20-25, 2018. This will be the Team’s first time participating at this event and they hope to be excellent representatives of Zone 4 and the Comox Valley Curling Club. Stay tuned for more detail about a Fundraiser for these Master Ladies! Have we said “proud” enough yet?

An amazing result at the Island U18 Playdowns this weekend in Kerry Park for Gracelyn Richards, Chanelle Meeres, Keelie Duncan, Bryn Woloshyn, and coach Sarah Hassall!
