The Courtenay Kia Ladies Open Bonspiel finished on Sunday November 24, with Campbell River Curling Club Team Cynthia Lu being the ONLY team to go undefeated and take home the Hairpins Boutique Salon A Event Grand Championship! Not only did team Lu win the bonspiel, they REPEATED as they were the 2023 champs as well! Congratulations to skip Cynthia Lu, with third Heather Beatty, 2nd Sarah Hassall, and lead Kylie Anderson. The girls took out the Sue Birtch team in a game that didn't need an extra end! So congrats to Sue, Lesley Hruby Patti Jamison, & Louisa McClellan for an outstanding showing too. Both team Lu and team Birtch, by making it to the A Final, have automatically qualified for the big dollars at stake at the Sweepers Cup in March!

Taking home the Bosley's By Pet Value Courtenay B Event prize was the super sassy Michelle Haider (CVCC) team! Congrats to Michelle, LeeAnne Alberti, Kerri Rondeau, Bobbi Turchenek, & Jocelyn Fravi. Michelle team edged out the Diane Calder team.

In a crazy extra end all CVCC back and forth battle, Kim Jonsson’s team of frequently photographed curlers (Kimmie, with Mickey Colburn, Sharon Walker, and Debbi Bender) had an extra end win over Sandra Gallaway to win the Brian McLean GMC, Buick, and Chevrolet Event!

The Jet FM D Event went to the Deb Morrissey team (with Karly King Simpson, Linda Martin, & Jen Zbinden. The most enormous thanks goes to bonspiel chair Sue Fulkerth and her amazing crew for making this such a great weekend off and on the ice! Thanks to all 24 teams and all 96 ladies for the polka dot extravaganza, music trivia, dance off (not sure how Karly King Simpson lost to the Dalmations!?) endless fun camaraderie and great curling! Thanks to the dozens of vendors at the Winter Market! Thanks to a team that came all the way from Wisconsin! A truly outstanding weekend!
